Thanks to all of the volunteers that worked the Steak dinner on Saturday, February 16^th. Also, Diane and I really enjoyed ourselves at the Valentines Party on February 9^th. Wow, what a nice layout. Again, this is an organization of volunteers almost from top to bottom. Thanks for turning out both in attendance and to work.

The Auxiliary is getting ready for their big money maker, and we need your help! Our Rummage Sale! One person’s junk is another’s treasure, so please save all your treasures for us! We can pick up if needed. The first week of April – Watch for dates to be posted.

On Thursday, February 21st, Dave Kanary, Steve Tracy, Chuck Kaminski and Bob Bauder went to the VA Hospital in Saginaw. There were 40 hospitalized veterans that came to bingo and the winners got new gold president dollars that was brought from the Legion general fund.

This very satisfying 3 hours relieves boredom for a hospital bound vet and more of us should get involved. Next time we go, on Thursday, April 17, Willie Coomer will be needing three helpers. If you would like to go, contact Willie at 989-631-1974 or Steve Tracy 989-835-3733. The only prerequisite is that you want to relieve a little boredom in the life of a hospitalized veteran’s confinement.

Have you thanked a volunteer recently? Have you volunteered recently? Several dinners coming up in February and March – call Marge Kelly at 989-835-9640 and have her add your name to the volunteer list. Don’t make us call you. Burger night cooks needed. Dish washers, not a fancy job, but it needs to be done – Kitchen committee would love to hear from you.

Hello Ladies,

Well, another month has gone by and we are still in a deep freeze. Due to the 10 inches of snow on February 6, we cancelled our meeting so our next meeting will now be March 5th. It really would be nice to see some new faces at our meeting and to get your input in what you would like to see happen at your post. Our meeting begins at 7:30 Pm.

I also want to thank those who have sent in the additional $9.00 for dues if you only sent $11.00. Our dues are $20.00 and as I have mentioned before there was a printing error. For those who have not paid your dues, please do so ASAP.

We are only at 75.25% of our goal of 100% as of Feb 22nd. You can send it to Vi Walker 3311 Green Rd Midland, Mi 48642; and any questions you can call her @ 989-631-1518.

Our rummage sale is coming up the 1st week of April so keep saving your MISC things and CLEAN clothes only.

And last but not least thanks to all who came out to support the steak dinner we had last Saturday. We served 216 people.

A Dog’s Tale

If you’re a new member of Berryhill Post 165, we would like to invite you to take the next step of making this post your home. Get involved. How? Come to a meeting? Challenge the faces that don’t recognize you to follow up on this invite. They had to step forward at some time in the past and you’d be surprised how many were unsure of how to get involved, but they did.

If you’re an "old dog" and been around for a long time, if this post is your "old soft shoe" and you can find your way around Berryhill in the dark with your eyes closed, the new folks (new members) see you as a grouchy pooch. They know that this unfamiliar yard that they’ve ventured into, is your stomping ground, they don’t know how long your chain is and some of them are unsure how to get to know you without getting bit.

Bark a friendly hello – make sure that you’re not growling. Wag that tail and welcome our new members.
