Check www.post165.com for current information about Berryhill Post 165. Continued thanks goes to "Sons Of The American Legion" (S.A.L.) member Dean Titus who does a splendid job keeping the website current for our post news & information. A unique & useful brand of volunteerism for veterans done in an outstanding manner by another member of our S.A.L. Squadron. Right next to volunteerism, communication is the life blood of our organization.

From the Commander:

Thanks for trusting me to be your Commander for another year. I appreciate all of your support over the last year and look forward to leading the post into serving our veterans in 2008-2009.

I have one request from you. I’d like each of you to add one more item to the list of requests that seem to come from being a member of Berryhill Post 165. I’d like you to reach out to one of our fellow members who are less involved and help them find a way to support veterans through Berryhill. Do it low key and don’t be overbearing. Suggestions go a long way.

Chuck Kaminski.

Join us on the last (Legion) planned trip to the VA hospital in Saginaw this year. We will be leaving the post at 5:55 pm on Thursday, June 19 and returning by 9 pm.

This will be the 5th trip by the Legion/Auxiliary to run a bingo for hospital bound veterans. If you would like to go, contact Pat Hanley at 989-488-2025 or Steve Tracy 989-835-3733. The only prerequisite is that you want to relieve a little boredom in the life of a hospitalized veteran’s confinement, Pat will take care of the rest.

For the Auxiliary there is still an opportunity to support our veterans on Wednesday, September 17. Call Deb Northrup for time & commitment.

From the 10th District Commander.

The next 10th District meeting will be in St. Helen, on Saturday, June 7, at noon with the meeting to follow with the installation of District Officers for the new year.

Willie Coomer

Dick Blasy – 2008-2009 Poppy Chairman

Dear Ladies,

I write this with much difficulty as this is my last article to write as my presidency of three years is up. I have enjoyed being your leader and I hope I did a good job that you can be proud of. I did my best. Deb Northrup will be our new president and I wish her the best and hope that you will help her in her term of office.

May 26th is the Memorial Day Service at the Midland Cemetery at 8AM, followed with a ceremony at the bridge and then at the Plaque at 9AM. Please come and honor all our deceased members and service men who died for our country. The parade will begin at 10AM.

June 4th will be our last meeting and we will install our new officers. They are

  • Deb Northrup President
  • Vi Walker 1st Vice President
  • Rei-Li Tracy 2nd Vice President

  • Margie Kelly Chaplain

On June 13th we will hold an initiation of new members from Legion, Auxiliary and SAL. ALL are invited, Legion Adjutant Pat Hanley will be including the details of this installation elsewhere in the June Newsletter. The next meeting after that will be on Sept. 3rd.

I wish you all a safe and happy summer.
